02 / HOUSE PHILOSOPHY
A philosophy disguised as clothing.
VANTAE exists at the intersection of form, memory, architecture, cinema, and personal history. Clothing is evidence of human existence — preserving memory, movement, identity, absence, and time. Garments can hold concealed details and personal traces.
Every major VANTAE garment contains a concealed element — a hidden button, second pocket, embroidered date, removable panel, phrase beneath the collar, or contrasting inner fabric. The wearer discovers it after owning the garment.
03 / THE FORM

VANTAE does not organize clothing according to traditional menswear and womenswear divisions. Instead, garments are organized through silhouette, proportion, construction, movement, transformation, material, and memory.
04 / THE HOUSE HISTORY

HAN JAE-HYUK
1929–1981 / Founder of the original VANTAE
Tailor, patternmaker, and textile collector. He believed clothing was evidence that someone had lived.
In 1956, he opened a small atelier in Seoul. Clients brought objects connected to personal memories — photographs, letters, medals, dried flowers, children's drawings — and Jae-hyuk used them as the starting point for garments.
THE SOURCE
“Every garment begins with something that already existed.”
The original VANTAE atelier burned in October 1979. The official explanation was an electrical fault.
Han Jae-hyuk survived. He refused to speak publicly about the incident.
His daughter, Han Vae-rin, was eleven years old. She remembered smoke, her father carrying a metal case, and a person standing across the street watching.

HAN VAE-RIN
Born 1968, Seoul / Former costume designer and architectural couturière
Official VANTAE history records 1998 as the founding of the modern house.
Vae-rin reopened VANTAE with a small atelier containing three sewing machines and one enormous archive cabinet.
FIRST COLLECTION / THE UNSEEN
“A body changes. A photograph doesn't.”
Han Vae-rin disappeared from fashion. The atelier closed.
Her final unfinished garment remained hanging inside the atelier. It had no archive number and no credited name.
A handwritten note was found with it:
“For whoever finds me.”
HANDWRITTEN NOTE / TEXT REPRODUCTION
For whoever finds me.
VANTAE returned without announcement. At midnight, its website appeared with a single sentence:
THE HOUSE REMEMBERS.
The collection contained exactly 17 garments. No designer was credited.
The final garment bore similarities to Han Vae-rin's unfinished 2010 piece.

HAN SEO-JUN
Born 1997, Seoul / Current Creative Director of VANTAE
Grandson of Han Vae-rin. Seo-jun was never originally expected to inherit the House. His grandmother had deliberately kept him away from the atelier.
Her will contained one condition: “You may inherit VANTAE only after you discover why it was created.”
In 2021, Seo-jun restored the old atelier and discovered a locked room beneath it.
He found photographs, sketches, letters, unpublished newspaper clippings, garments bearing the VANTAE insignia, and evidence that contradicted the official history of the House.
“Nothing inherited must remain unchanged.”
This began the MEMORY ERA.
